Matlock Monkeys

 

Matlock runs a Junior section (the 'Matlock Monkeys'), which is thriving in numbers, from players as young as 5 up to the ages of 13 and 14, when they are then intergrated into women's teams. Anyone is welcome to come along on a Thursday night, from 6-7 for Under 11's and 7-8 for U14's, to try their luck with a hockey stick in their hand, who knows, you may even find you enjoy it..!  

Recent News: 

MATLOCK Monkeys U11s were crowned Derbyshire champions in March at a tournament at Belper.

Monkeys U13s entered two teams in their group and both performed well on the day against tough opposition from Trent College, Burton, Belper Barton and Ashbourne, though with mixed results.

The Players in the U11 team were: Merrie Pankhurst (GK), Holly Repton, Nina Smedley, Beth Harwood, Tasmin Boam, Lottie Fraser, Rebecca Knowles and Isobelle Justice.

 Our club has recently been  awarded the prestigious Sport England Clubmark, which is used by England Hockey as part of their club accreditation programme for clubs with junior sections to recognize a quality club.

Clubmark is a single, national standard scheme which was created to give sports clubs with a junior section structure and direction.

Being able to demonstrate that issues such as equality and child protection have been addressed gives confidence to parents choosing a club for their children.  The foundation for any club is its youth structure.  So, by encouraging and attracting young members, we are building a strong future for our club. As part of the accreditation scheme, we are given help and advice in developing the skills of everyone involved in the club.
